OpenAI Stargate Shackelford

OpenAI Stargate Shackelford is an AI data center under construction with AI chips owned by Oracle and used by OpenAI. In Q4 2028, we project it to host an estimated 4,563k H100-equivalents of AI compute, supported by 1,400 MW of IT power at a capital cost of $53.0 B.

The timeline of IT power and AI compute capacity is based on satellite imagery, company disclosures, chip availability, and chip efficiency.

Just 20 km from the original Abilene site, Shackelford is the second U.S. Stargate location, developed by Vantage under the name “Frontier.”
