Meta Prometheus is an operational AI data center with AI chips owned and used by Meta. It hosts an estimated 536k H100-equivalents of AI compute, supported by 471 MW of IT power at a capital cost of $17.8 B. In Q3 2028, we project it to rise to 1,164k H100-eq AI compute, 1,022 MW IT power and a cost of $38.7 B. We estimate that it uses Nvidia B300 chips.
The timeline of IT power and AI compute capacity is based on satellite imagery, our cooling equipment power model, regulatory filings, chip availability, chip efficiency, and land use maps.
Meta Prometheus is unusual for its ad hoc construction — a patchwork of weatherproof tents, colocation facilities, and traditional data center buildings spanning the full length of New Albany Business Park.

Land clearing begins for Building 1-2
Roof complete on Building 5 (QTS-owned). In the northernmost area, land clearing begins on a new Meta site for Buildings 16-20. Building 1 still has construction work around the building and cooling equipment, so it's unlikely to be operational.
Building 4 operational. Based on our default estimate of roof-to-operational time.
Building 1 is operational, based on there being minimal construction work and cars in the main carpark. Building 2 still has some construction work around the building. Building 18 roof is complete. The on-site power at Socrates South and Socrates North has some outlines of gas turbines, to be installed later.
Buildings 2-6 are operational, based on all equipment being in place, the paved ground, and minimal construction equipment by the buildings. Buildings 7-11 all have some kind of power or cooling equipment lining their right side which are not fully installed. Building 14 has chillers installed. Buildings 16-20 roofs are complete. The Socrates South power plant to the right of Buildings 7-11 has 7 gas turbines in place, judging by the exhaust stacks.
The Socrates South power plant to the right of Buildings 7-12 now has 10 natural gas turbines in place, judging by the number of exhaust stacks. Battery backup has been installed nearby. To the north, a new section of tent buildings has begun east of Buildings 16-20.
Building 7-11 (Meta tents) look structurally complete but not operational, given there is still construction activity, including at the adjacent Socrates South power plant. Northern tents (Buildings 16-27) are all roofed except for 21 and 27.
Buildings 7-10 (tents) are operational, based on infrared drone video from RAAD (raad.com) captured on this date. The video suggests that 138.8 MW of nameplate turbine capacity is operating at the Socrates South power plant (about 69% of the 200 MW nameplate capacity), and Buildings 7-10 roof vents are bright on infrared while Buildings 11-12 vents are not. That's 4/6 buildings operating, implying about 67% of capacity, which is consistent with 69% of the power plant operating. In the north, Buildings 16-27 (tents) look to be in a completed state. Each northern set of 6 tents still awaits to be connected to one of the corresponding power plants to become operational. Drone video from August 19th shows no turbines operating at Socrates North, though there are 3 small diesel generators operating. Building 13 (Vantage) is still under construction, we estimate another 3 months before operability.
Socrates South and Socrates North gas power plants are fully operational, enabling the operability of Buildings 11-12 and 16-21. This completes the 2 sets of 6 tents associated with Socrates South and Socrates North. This is based on documents stating "late Third or early Fourth Quarter of 2026", "late 2026", "November 2026", "third quarter of 2026". The timeline also lines up with RAAD drone imagery from 09/08/26 seeing operating turbines at Socrates South and a full set of turbines installed but not yet operating at Socrates North.
Building 13 (Vantage) is operational, based on the pace of construction seen in earlier images.
Building 14 (Vantage) is operational, based on it starting construction about 3 months after Building 13.
Building 15 (Vantage) operational, based on it starting construction about 3 months after Building 14.
Buildings 22-27 (3rd set of 6 Meta tents) are operational. This is a conservative estimate to align with the operability of the Socrates the Younger power plant. The power plant is operational by Q3 of 2028 based on the project schedule. It is announced to produce a maximum of 250MW.
