xAI QTS Atlanta

Atlanta, Georgia, United States

xAI QTS Atlanta is an operational AI data center with AI chips owned and used by SpaceXAI. It hosts an estimated 11k H100-equivalents of compute, supported by 17 MW of IT power at a capital cost of $0.7 B. We estimate that it uses Nvidia H100 and Nvidia A100 chips.

The timeline of IT power and compute capacity is based on satellite imagery, company disclosures, and regulatory filings.

This is xAI’s second and far smaller data center: its 12,448 GPUs are a fraction of the roughly 200,000 at its Memphis Colossus 1 supercluster.

X Corp's $700 million investment in AI training hardware for the Atlanta data center is approved by the Development Authority of Fulton County (bond resolution fact sheet).

Feb 20, 2025

xAI's GPU cluster in the QTS Atlanta building at 1025 Jefferson Street NW is operational around this time. This date is a tentative estimate: Business Insider reported the buildout in February 2025, so the cluster likely came online around or shortly after then, though the exact date is not disclosed. The cluster comprises 11,000 NVIDIA H100 and about 1,448 A100 GPUs, based on documents submitted to Develop Fulton as reported by Business Insider. xAI occupies part of this multi-tenant building, so its cooling is not attributed to xAI alone.
