Nscale Keflavik

Reykjanesbær, Suðurnes, Iceland

Nscale Keflavik is an operational AI data center with AI chips owned by Nscale. It hosts an estimated 6k H100-equivalents of AI compute, supported by 5 MW of IT power at a capital cost of $0.2 B. In Q4 2026, we project it to rise to 12k H100-eq AI compute, 10 MW IT power and a cost of $0.4 B. We estimate that it uses Nvidia B300 chips.

The timeline of IT power and AI compute capacity is based on satellite imagery, company disclosures, regulatory filings, grid operator data, third-party reporting, and chip efficiency.

Nscale Keflavik is located on a former NATO base, which is now being repurposed into a major AI and HPC data center campus.

Site preparation begins for the southernmost KEF301 data center, here labeled as Building 1. Heilbrigðiseftirlit Suðurnesja records authorization for Mannverk to demolish the existing structure at Valhallarbraut 872, the parcel later identified as KEF301.

May 1, 2023

Construction of Building 1 begins. Reykjanesbær planning records from May 11 explicitly state that the next construction phase of KEF301 was under construction by May 2023, so we model it as starting by the beginning of the month as a conservative estimate.

Nscale's GPU fit-out begins at the datacenter owned by Verne in Keflavik, Iceland. Estimated from Verne's statement that the first 7.5 MW deployment was completed in approximately three months; the exact start date was not disclosed.

Apr 23, 2026

First Nscale AI capacity operational. Verne reports the first 7.5 MW of Nscale capacity deployed with 128 racks, including 64 liquid-cooled NVIDIA GB300 racks. The AI capacity is assumed to be in the southernmost white building because it is the newest major data hall, has roughly 16 MW of capacity, and was the hall still being expanded most recently before Nscale's deployment; however, Verne and Nscale have not publicly confirmed the building assignment.
